Editorial Guidelines for Management Consulting News
We're really interested in publishing a wide range of articles.
Armed with a whiteboard and some colored pens, we came up
with some examples of the types of items we'll publish.
- Articles » (500 – 1,500 words)
are most valuable if focused on helping readers develop
new consulting skills. We'd welcome articles that bring
insights to any part of the consulting process from selling
to delivery to business management.
If you have an article that is longer than 1,500 words, it may be more appropriate to place it
in the library section of the site, rather than in the newsletter.
It is always helpful, but not necessary, to send an email in advance with your proposed topic,
so we can be help identify the best time for publication.
- Tips and Take-Aways » (200 words
or less) are intended to help a consultant up the learning
curve. The subject could include, for example, a "lesson
learned," or a "how-to" on a range of subjects such as,
solving a client issue, working with project teams, using
a new technology or even tips on travel.
- Tap The Power » access the talent
and skills of the industry by posing a question to Management
Consulting News readers. If you have a nagging question
or issue you'd like to resolve, we'll put it in the newsletter
for you. Management Consulting News readers will
be given your email address to respond directly to you.
For the benefit of all readers, we ask that the requestor summarize the findings and send an
email to the editor so we can publish the results.
- Book Reviews » if you'd like
to send your opinion, either good or bad, on a book you've
read, we'll share it with our readers. We generally like
to see short reviews (200 – 500 words). If you think we
should include the book in our library, let us know.
- Humor » have you seen something
funny that will get a chuckle out of a consultant? Send
it along, but please keep it clean.
- Product and Service Reviews »
post brief reviews of relevant products and services that
might help a practicing consultant. We'd like to hear
from people who have used the product and service, and
how it helped. You might want to let readers know about
your experiences with tools, software or other products.
- Interview » if you'd like to
conduct an interview and publish the results, send us
an email.
- Other Things We Just Have to Know »
let us know if there's a great conference, meeting or
other event, for example. Use your imagination and creativity.
The content of the newsletter will reflect the interests
of subscribers, so we encourage feedback on topics you want
to see in Management Consulting News.
